Chamaerops humilis, European fan palm, is the only palm that is very tough and copes well with open windy situations as well as sun and low rain fall. The Chamaerops humilis palm tree has beautiful large evergreen fan shaped leaves, which give a wonderful architectural feel to the exotic garden. They produce suckers from the base to create a 'bushy' palm.

Fantastically the Chamaerops can be hardy down to -12C on a free draining soil. Once planted the palm would virtually be maintenance free, just the removal of spent leaves every now and then.
