Dogwoods are fantastic shrubs that will thrive in most soil types and especially damp conditions. Cornus are easy to grow, they look great in the summer but they are primarily grown for their gorgeous winter stem colour. Cornus 'Kesselringii' is no exception, the leaves turn a beautiful orange-red in the autumn and in the winter the stems are a really dark, purple-black colour, they look beautiful planted in 3s, either next to ornamental grass for a lovely textural contrast or near paler evergreen shrubs such as Pittosporum 'Irene Patterson' The Cornus are very hardy tough plants, if the stems are cut down hard in spring the new growth will be a much more striking and a deeper colour in the winter.
The ultimate height is 1.5-2.5M with a spread of 2M.
