Named after it's whorls of bright green foliage encircling it's branches like the spines of an umbrella. The sole member of the family Sciadopitysaceae and a living fossil with no close relatives. 'Eiffel Tower' is a grafted variety with foliage that points vertically revealing a pale yellow vein running the length of the leaf. An evergreen tree that dates back over 230 million years. Grows in acid to neutral soil, in sun or shade and will tolerate alkaline conditions. If grown in a pot only pot on when pot bound to a slightly larger pot.This unusual form of Sciadopitys is a grafted variety with foliage that points vertically revealing a pale yellow vein that runs the length of the leaf. Overall it slowly forms into a compact conical shape when mature. This Japanese pine is best grown in acid to neutral soil, in sun or shade, it will also tolerate alkaline conditions. Can be grown in a pot, only pot on when it becomes pot bound into a slightly larger pot.
