Customer Feedback

Dahlia Thomas A. Edison is a very popular, old variety of dahlia, desired for its abundant flowers of deep violet, which fade gradually into the darkest maroon. This dahlia has perfectly shaped, decorative type flowers that are huge and wonderful for cutting. Dahlia Thomas Edison looks great mixed with other dahlia flower colours such as the dark D. 'Black Jack' or D. 'Chat Noir', but we'll leave you to make that choice!

Plant your tubers or plants in a fertile, well drained soil in full sun, don't forget to feed well with a liquid fertiliser (we use Lou's Poo fertiliser) every two weeks in the growing season, this will help give you lots of blooms to cut and enjoy. We also recommend that you give your dahlias some sturdy support, preferably inserted at planting time, it saves a lot of phaffing about when the plant is tall and about to fall over under the weight of all its flowers. It will look a whole lot more natural if you stake from the word go, the plant can grow up through the supports and you can tie them in as you go.
