Eriobotrya japonica AGM

The Loquat tree is such a underrated tree or shrub, it is suitable for small gardens, ultimately reaching 4-8 metres  after 20-50 years. It likes a sheltered spot in sun or part shade and is suitable for most soil types. The flowers are highly scented and appear in autumn if the summer has been good, sadly we rarely get fruit in this country. The foliage is amazing though, large glossy, long leaves give this tree a tropical look and being evergreen means it makes a wonderful tree for screening and can easily be pruned to size if required.
